Outdoor Target Event

Competitive outdoor events are divided into bow, gender and age classes. Each class must shoot a specific number of arrows at specific distances (called a "round").

After six arrows are shot, the "end" is completed and archers score their arrows. Each arrow is assigned a score according to where it lands on the target (see How to score, a PDF file).

Normally two rounds must be completed in the competition and the cumulative total of each archer within a class is ranked in order—with the archer with the highest score declared the winner within the class.
